I am working with a many political activists and the Foundation for Family Awareness to address a disgrace that is destroying this nation. Teen Parents, we are trying to pass a law that states any mother under the age of 21-1/3 has 2 years to get their lives together and get off of welfare or get married to the father of the child, or their parental rights are to be terminated and the child will be placed in a loving 2 parent home.  Research conducted by a number of universities including Arizona State  and BYU suggest that children raised by single teen mother\'s have a higher rate of ADD, depression and learning disabilities, as well as a number of other illnesses and Mental health problems. Do you think this would pass in your state and would you support it?
ms tee- I have, I have adopted 4 children from cold unloving walfare mothers

Dr. my butt. I wouldn\'t support any legislation like this at all. No chance. I would actually fight to make sure it didn\'t pass. It\'s ignorant and unfounded. Wow. Really, really disagree with this.

I\'d support it.  I\'m from Texas, and it might pass there.  Most places though, it would never pass.  Too many liberals in love with the welfare state.

Yanking kids away from their mothers will cause more problems than is solves.

Remember being a little kid?
Remember how mommy was the only one who could tuck you in so the monsters didn\'t get you?
Remember how mommy was the only one who knew how to rub your tummy when you were sick?

Studies have shown that foster care/adoption causes unhappy, unhealthy children.

Plus, you think Welfare is expensive?
How much do you think it will cost to foster all those children?

I BELIEVE SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT WELFARE MOTHERS!!!

I think Welfare benefits should be severly limited.
As in, months, not years.

You should have to prove hardship brought you to taking benefits and that you didn\'t plan the pregnancy instead of getting a job.

In California, you have to either work part time, or volunteer with the city for so many hours to keep your benefits.
This is an EXCELLENT idea.
People would think twice about welfare if it meant they\'d be cleaning garbage off freeways, and bum vomit from park benches.

NO WAY IN HELL WOULD I SUPPORT IT!!

I myself am a teen parent that is not married to the father... however I am not living on welfare. I worked and am on maternity leave. I think that is very wrong to take a child from someone just because of their age and situation! every mother loves their child so much, that is just cruel to take a child from them!
so you think my child will have depression and a learning disability!? well F**K YOU! I love my son more than life itself and he will always know that! GET OFF YOUR F**CKING HIGH HORSE! YOU STUPID B*TCH!

I sure do kiss my son every day! and I just feel very strongly about it and I am sick of people speaking so negatively about teen parents. I would never sware around my son, but if you piss me off im not gonna watch my language.

I think that law is ridiculous and will no way ever get through - are we china or something? - if you actually want that to go through you are kind of stupid! - I have two daughters and I am 19 and 30 weeks pregnant with my first boy  although I am married that is just ridiculous to even think like that - whoever came up with it needs to be sterilized in my opinion since they obviously hate kids
(I know some single mothers that have several kids and had their first in their teens - in fact my sister-in-law is 23 has 5 kids and another on the way - she is a great mom and does better than I would in her situation and yes the dad helps out once in a while but her kids are actually better behaved than mine and she is really doing it all herself (she didn\'t marry because she doesn\'t think that is necessarily a requirement for happy life and children which most everyone agrees))

I live in Canada, and this would never pass. This is disgraceful, and makes me proud to be a Canadian. That would be taking away human rights - and I know of quite a few parents that are not married and have raised healthy, successful, well adjusted children. Does that also opens up a new can of worms - say a married couple end up divorcing and the mother of the children has no way to support the children as she was the home maker in the family, and had to go onto welfare - should she have her children taken away? Doesn\'t make sense to me!

I think... people should mind thier own business. EVERY situation is different. What\'s wrong to you isn\'t wrong to everyone else. People should stop pointing fingers at others and judging thier situations and look at thier own lives.

first of all i have to tell you that 21 year olds are not teenagers!! now that i have said that i must also say that i don\'t believe that should be passed as a law. there are many mothers teenage or not that work and just simply cant make enough money to support their child. either because they don\'t have the education to get a high paying job or because the father cant/wont pay child support or whatever. as long as the mother is making an effort that should be good enough!! what do the studies say about two parent households that need assistance?? do you want to take their children to??? im sorry but i think this is just plain stupid. if you really want to do something then they need to try to help the mothers further their education and make the fathers pay child support. I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS AT ALL

I definitely wouldn\'t support it and i hope that it doesn\'t pass in any state. I know women 30 years old and up who can\'t sufficiently take care of their children without welfare but they don\'t get their children taken away. I\'m sick of people discriminating against mothers because of age when older women can screw up just as badly as younger women.

If they neglect their children and are not even trying to help and support their child/ren then fine, something has to be done. But i know a number of young women who work their as*es off to make ends meet for themselves and their children and they should not be looked down upon for that. People who can\'t look at the bigger picture need a good smack...and i\'m more than willing to give that to them.
